Our weekly music classes at Dinjerra are generously funded by the Australian Children’s Music Foundation. They focus on introducing students to different ways of interacting with music - from singing, dancing, playing instruments, to writing songs and reading music. Students engage with an interactive curriculum that develops their musical skills and creativity through games and play - culminating in performance opportunities throughout the year including at our famous Family Fiesta.
Typical lessons include singing songs, learning about rhythm, performing together, dance and movement and basic instrumental skills. Music classes facilitate a broader appreciation and engagement with art, personal expression and culture, and are a fantastic way develop student’s team work, confidence and sense of identity.
Dinjerra Primary School has a range of instruments including percussion, djembes, ukuleles, guitars, keyboards and glockenspiels which are incorporated into classes, and all students have a chance to try these varied instruments throughout their time at school. Dinjerra also has a growing instrumental program and a choir, through which students can learn guitar, keyboard or singing, in private or small group settings.
